You’ve heard it all before: sit ups to get abs, push ups for shoulders, squats for the perfect butt. The list goes on. Unfortunately, as with most things in life, when it comes to the best workouts for weight loss there are no shortcuts or quick fixes, so how do you get the results you want? If you want to burn fat and tone up this winter, here are ONE LDN’S 5 best weight loss training workouts:

  • #1 Weightlifting

Weights are usually associated with bulking up and getting bigger. However, weightlifting done in the right way actually has the opposite effect – helping you to build lean muscle, all the while tightening your body and burning fat. Fat burning weight training is very much a thing and has the added benefit of simultaneously helping you to build muscle.

  • #2 The German Body Comp Workout

Romanian scientist Hala Rambie, better known for the German Body Comp Workout Plan, found that fat loss could be accelerated by raising levels of blood lactate—an energy substrate. The greater the lactate levels, the greater the release of growth hormone, which tells your body to grow muscle and burn flab. The best way to raise lactate quickly is to pair upper and lower body exercises, or opposing movements, for approximately 8-15 reps. The sweet spot for sets is three, and rest periods are 30–60 seconds.   • #3 HIIT Workouts

High-intensity interval training, or HIIT for short, is a style of exercising where you alternate between periods of all-out and low effort. The high-intensity intervals push your body to its metabolic limits (basically as hard as you can go) and the low-intensity intervals allow you to recover before starting all over again. Although the workout periods are shorter, this is a popular weight loss training method and arguably one of the most effective ways of burning fat.

  • #4 P90X Training Systems

You may have heard of P90X training systems or perhaps you’ve heard of Insanity classes. These are programs are another type of HIIT workout focusing on bodyweight exercises. The workouts are high impact and dynamic by nature and are extremely intense which makes them a fantastic form of weight loss training and getting quick results.

  • #5 Sprint Training

Not to be confused with jogging, sprint training is the ultimate full body workout, engaging every muscle in your entire body. In turn, this increases the metabolic demands on your body, which in layman’s terms means you burn through fat more quickly.
